10 Good Reasons to holiday at Gorwell Farm!

Comfortable very well equipped 4 star cottages

All the cottages are comfortable and well equipped for you to enjoy your holiday at Gorwell Farm. We try to think of most things because we want your stay as comfortable and stress-free as possible!

No noise pollution so sleep easy

There is no passing traffic. All the animals are either in the fields or in the barn approximately half a mile away. When you arrive at Gorwell you will pass the barns on the way to the cottages. As the barns are not situated too close you can enjoy the peace and quiet.

Play areas for everyone

We have a hard surface tennis court, a covered area with table tennis and a small skittle alley. Our games room has a pool table and table football. Our outside area has swings, slide, climbing frame and lots of space to play football, and whatever other ball games you like. There is lots of space here for you and your children to safely play and let off steam.

Character cottages and the Barn - suitable for couples, families or larger parties

Our six cottages are of varying sizes so can be used by couples, groups of friends and families and friends holidaying together. The Barn is the perfect place for family celebrations, weddings, functions and events.

Peace and quiet

This quiet scenic valley is secluded. Although we are only about a mile north of Abbotsbury village we have no passing traffic – just a few passing sheep as they move from field to field.

Wake up to the beautiful valley views

Our views down the valley are stunning as are the views from the top of the hills and at the entrance to the farm. The entrance of the farm has far reaching views west along the Jurassic Coast from Weymouth and Portland and around the Lyme Bay.

Close proximity to an abundance of popular activities

Whatever your hobbies and interests Gorwell is conveniently situated for so many options. The coast offers watersports, diving, sailing, fishing and beaches for all types of activities.

Dorchester, Weymouth and Bridport are only about 10 miles away and are all interesting towns for many reasons. Dorchester is the county town with its museums, shopping, restaurants. Bridport is the local food and arts centre of Dorset. Weymouth is a traditional family seaside town with lovely sandy beaches, the harbour, shopping and restaurants. Abbotsbury is just a mile from Gorwell and is a pretty stone thatched ancient village with craft shops, art shops, tea rooms attractions and a couple of pubs.

Eating out locally is easy as there is so much choice all year. Whether you opt for locally caught fish or other excellent food this part of West Dorset has a wealth of options.

No light pollution so enjoy the night skies

We are a mile from a public road. There is no light pollution here and you can see the stars and night skies.

We are keen to keep Gorwell as a special haven for wildlife. The woodland, fields and wetland areas are habitats for a huge number of different species. Roe deer and sika deer are often seen in the fields or in the woodland. Song birds, birds of prey, owls and the usual garden and field birds are here. Bats, butterflies and moths all enjoy living in our valley.

Great walks horse riding and cycle rides within very easy access

With almost 3000 miles of rights of ways in Dorset and a network of quiet country lanes the area is wonderful for walking, cycling and horse riding.
