This starts, or finishes depending on your way round, in Poole Harbour in Dorset and the entire path …all 630 miles of it …is one of the top walks to be found anywhere in the world. The Dorset section covers 86 miles and the coastal path follows cliff tops, beaches, some towns, coastal villages and hamlets, lagoons and dramatic landscapes. There is easy access to the coastal path from Gorwell and you can enjoy a stroll, to a beauty spot, a day walk and use the link bus for your return or take a discovery walk and learn the history to the dramatic landscape. A perfect way to enjoy being outdoors in the Dorset landscape.

Few can be unaware of the joys of cycling in to enjoy being outdoors in the Dorset landscape but the effort required to get up those hills is not everyone’s idea of a good time.

The MacMillan Way

This 290 mile walk across Britain linking Boston Barnstaple and Abbotsbury. It passes through Gorwell on the Abbotsbury stage and so gives the opportunity for an inland walk across unspoilt countryside whilst raising money for the charity.

The National Cycle Network National Route 2

This route is also is within easy reach of Gorwell. The West Dorset section is a 30-mile route from Dorchester to Lyme Regis which passes through our local Bride Valley.

The Wessex Ridgeway

This is a ridge top route which crosses inland Dorset but which passes within easy reach of Gorwell.

Fishing

If you enjoy fishing then Dorset offsets you so much choice. We have fly fishing, coarse fishing and beach fishing all available within easy reach.

The Chesil Beach is famous for its long expanse of shoreline and the wide range of fish which can be caught.

Fishing trips from Weymouth, West Bay or Lyme Regis are available most days but depend on the weather and there is also the chance to go crabbing along the coast as well.
